If You Suspect That Your Employer Is Breaking the Law:

*Keep notes. Keep a record of conversations with supervisors, performance reviews, e-mails and memos, and keep a journal. For obvious reasons, you should keep these documents outside of your workplace.

*Try not to quit. There are some cases where the employer’s treatment is so bad that the employee is forced to quit – this is called “constructive discharge”. However, those cases are rare and quitting may mean losing your rights.

*Follow the rules. Don’t give your employer an excuse to fire you.

*Contact a lawyer – now. If you hesitate, you may lose your rights. The consultation will be confidential. You cannot be fired for learning your rights.
